We didn't have as many competitors show up for this one as the last. Maybe
the treat of rain and the foggy, misty conditions had something to do with that.
Actually the rain held off, except for just a little mist off and on until after
we finished. Everyone made some noise and enjoyed the burnt powder smell that
tends to hang with the humidity. Neil Evans edged out Doug Armstrong for high
score, although not by much. We all had a good time, and found out that some
reloads may be a little dirty and can sometimes gum up a chamber. Good lesson to
be learned--try to carry at least a minimum of cleaning gear with you when you
go to a shoot. Thanks again to everyone for their help setting up and breaking
down the targets.
Scores for the day:
Harris, James 426-4x
Bonney, Don 319-3x
Evans, Neil 495-14x
Armstrong, Doug 491-18x
Lane, Will 396-7x
We hope to have a few more of these matches scattered throughout our regular
High Power season on some other Saturdays. Seems like the guys liked to shoot
both their old and new issue-style rifles. As our HP schedule shows, the NRA
matches start Sat, 25 April 2009 on the PHA High Power range. As before, these
will be in accordance with NRA rules, targets, etc. Hope to see anyone
interested in having fun, and getting their HP classification from the NRA, at
our Matches this year.
