PHA Plate Matches are held the 1st Saturday of every
month at 9:00 AM under the direction of David McDonald. Entry fee is $5 per person.
Equipment used:
- Any center fire handgun (stock and race guns scored separately)
- 96 rounds of ammo are required
- Holster required
- Targets are 8" steel plates, provided by the range
Match rules:
- 10 yard line: Fire 6 rounds, reload, fire 6 more (shooting time
allowed is 6 seconds)
- 15 yard line: Fire 6 rounds, reload, fire 6 more (shooting time
allowed is 7 seconds)
- 20 yard line: Fire 6 rounds, reload, fire 6 more (shooting time
allowed is 8 seconds)
- 25 yard line: Fire 6 rounds, reload, fire 6 more (shooting time
allowed is 9 seconds)
- 2 full rounds are fired
Classes:
- Master Class for scores of 80 - 96
- Expert Class ( A Class) for scores of 65- 79
- Marksman Class (B Class) for scores of 50-64
- Professional Class (C Class) for scores of 49 and below
There will also be two additional special classes, with certificates issued if there are
2 or more competitors:
- Open Class for shooters with a scope or a .22 caliber
- Visitors Class for 1st time shooters or shooters who have not shot
a plate match within the last 6 months (untimed--allowed to complete shooting of their round after whistle has blown).
Matches are not held in drizzle, rain or snow or in temperatures below 40o
F.
