Neil Evans, an experienced high power shooter and Distinguished Rifleman, has restarted the High Power matches. The NRA accepted our application for these to be Approved Matches. The matches, held on the 4th Saturday of the month, are scheduled to be an 800 aggregate (80 rounds). Depending on weather and/or other factors, match director may at his discretion change a match to a 500 aggregate (50 rounds).
For the 800 aggregate matches, the course of fire will consist of:
20 rounds standing slow fire (20 min)
20 rounds standing to sitting rapid fire (60 sec per 10 shot string)
20 rounds standing to prone rapid fire (70 sec per 10 shot string)
20 rounds prone slow fire (20 min)
For the 500 aggregate matches, the course of fire will consist of:
10 rounds standing slow fire (10 min)
10 rounds standing to sitting rapid fire (60 sec)
10 rounds standing to prone rapid fire (70 sec)
20 rounds prone slow fire (20 min)
Scoring will be done after completion of each stage of 20 rounds for the 800 course and after each of the 10 round stages and the 20 round stage in the 500 course.
All sighters will be fired prior to the beginning of the match (see below).
Practice/sighter targets will be available for purchase at cost if competitor does not furnish their own, and desires to have a new target face for the start of the match. Otherwise competitors will paste and fire on the target face they used for the practice/sighters.
Our range is a walk and paste range. All competitors will go to the target area and score targets. Competitors will not score their own targets.
We are having these matches for competition and enjoyment, so if you are new to the game, please come to the range to try the match. Let us know you are just beginning, and some one will assist you with whatever you need to know.
Match fees are set at $18 for non-members, $15 for PHA members, and $12 for all junior shooters.
At this point, plans are to give trophies as awards. Please be patient as we try to get this aspect set up and on a timely basis. Overall Match Winner may choose either a trophy or free entry for his/her next match entered.
Matches are held at 200 yards and fired on the NRA reduced targets for the 300 and 600 yard line portions of the match.
